Introduction:

To provide database SME technical lead role on DB2 L3 DBA in the bank. Person should have commanding capabilities to resolve MIM/Triage issues, work on RCA’s and provide service stability and service improvement.
As an experienced Database Administrator, they will
Manage and support DB2 database systems
design and develop the databases and related infrastructure
deliver database and infrastructure changes
contribute to the strategy, architecture and future direction
Implementing and driving automation opportunities in DB2 database area in various categories. L3 DBA will strive towards reducing noise in database area. Resource will work towards creating more capacity in database area.

The role requires an ability to work independently and as part of a team. Note that L3 support includes an element of on call on a rota basis.

What will you be doing?
The resource will be working supporting database Operations as SME and will continue to support databases primarily for DB2. Resource should be SME who can contribute individually and should have capabilities to share knowledge within the team to enhance team capabilities.
Resource will be responsible for implementing and driving automation opportunities in DB2 database area in various categories. L3 DBA will strive towards reducing noise in database area. Resource will work towards creating more capacity in database area.
Take responsibility for completing tasks, focusing on requirements and planning to meet client needs, which the job holder helps to identify, advise and recommend technical solutions based on experience and Industry knowledge
Role is expected to have a talent where he will contribute during the MIM/Triage or emergencies that require technical knowhow and wit to overcome issues on immediate grounds
Provide robust engineering support for DB2
React quickly to resolve production issues at all times of the day
Take ownership of issues / enhancements and see them through to a suitable conclusion
Work with application teams to understand their requirements / issues and deliver solutions for them
Understand timescales and priorities and balance these to ensure deliveries
Provide L3 support as part of 24*7 cover – including weekends
Handle Incident, change and problem Management practices
Improve knowledge of the systems processes and technologies, infrastructure and service development processes, both current and emerging technology
Interface with other areas sharing technical knowledge and expertise and resolving issues as necessary

Support the implementation of strategy and policy issues by involvement in change and/or advise to other technical areas and makes recommendations to improve procedures and working
What we’re looking for:
Candidate should have very good experience in DB2 database administration and very good capabilities to lead and implement various automation solutions in database area. The candidate should have understanding and working experience on:

DB2 advanced Database Administration.
Performance Tuning, Query Optimization and other related monitoring and troubleshooting.
DB2 replication strategies practical experience and awareness.
Installation, Upgradation and configuration of DB2 products.
DB2 User and Access Management.
DB backup – Restore and Recovery knowledge.
Very good practical experience of DB2 Utilities like Load/Explain/Reorg/Runstats/db2top/db2advis/backup/etc.
Fine-Tune Configurations- DB2 for performance improvements.
Should have knowledge of performing health checks to monitor
Identify slow queries
Indexes
Reorg and run stats
CPU/Memory usage
Lock timeouts and deadlocks
Maintenance required -during release/outage etc.
DB2 backup configuration.
DB2 database recovery techniques.
Configuring and monitoring Automation agent.
Event, Incident, change and problem management.
Disaster Recovery knowhow for DB2, DB2.
Database support – production and test.
Monitoring & alerting.
Database authentication mechanism.
Database migration across from DB2 to DB2 and DB2 to other technologies.
Database maintenance.
Data movement utilities – Export & Import.
Logical access management.
Database audit & compliance.
Open to learn other database technologies.

Skills that will help you in the role:
Technology graduate
DB2 database administration with experience of at least more than 7-8 years. Very good experience of leading and driving the various database solutions in DB2 dB area which has led to capacity creation or immense customer satisfaction and savings. Roles with leadership accountabilities should be present with candidate.
Database risk and governance.
Strong analytical skills.

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor in engineering/Technology or MCA
DB2 administration
Shell scripting.
Very good troubleshooting and Performance tuning skills.
Candidate with experience on other technologies like MongoDB as well will be added advantage.
