The Infrastructure Lead reports into the Database Lead and will be a key technical leader in the delivery of the database services, utilizing excellent technical knowledge and experience to proactively define and develop the environment and procedures, and be an expert trouble-shooter for major or critical service incidents.
As a member of the Operations Infrastructure teams, the primary function of the role is to ensure the Oracle & Sybase database services and associated support infrastructure and services are secure, robust, resilient and compliant to PCI standards.

What will you be doing?
Leadership. Proven as a technical leader in a high-performing environment, with evidence of ideas generated and implemented, service situations owned and proactive planning of successful migrations/new environments and services/tools

Technical. Demonstrable expert knowledge of the SQL Server components and the environments that surrounds them, including industry trends, services and delivery models. Strong understanding of other infrastructure areas and their interaction with the database environment – for example: servers, storage, operating systems, virtualisation, active directory, networks.
Environmental. Track record of delivering and operating complex services within a high-pressure environment, with excellent communications with all levels of technician and senior leaders.
Ownership and leadership of technical resolution for high severity production incidents (Sev 3 high, Sev 2 and Sev1)
Define and drive the product strategy.
Adherence to Barclays standards for change control, database security and database patterns, adhering to bank’s governance and control procedures.
Provide on-call rota support where required
Lead and define database delivery requirements for Service Improvement Unit initiatives
Act as technical point of contact internally and externally for technical queries across Investment Bank regarding Oracle databases.
Analysis of re-occurring incidents and identify service improvements where possible.
Be an effective, proactive team member, influencing the behaviour of colleagues internally and across Infrastructure Services
Deliver process and documentation around automated patching, estate patch-fit remediation processes.

What we’re looking for:
The scope of role is Oracle SME/L3
resource would be handling major escalated incidents, complex problem record, ODU management.
Resource would primarily be working on ODU (Shared Farms) and making sure these work as expected.

This includes periodic review of systems, capacity management, on boarding new services, patching coordination & maintain good health of these.
Take responsibility for completing tasks, focusing on requirements and planning to meet client needs, which the job holder helps to identify, advise and recommend technical solutions based on experience and Industry knowledge.
Ownership of Complex problem records
Driving Automations agenda
Driving Knowledge Sessions for L1/L2 teams
Expert knowledge of RAC (cluster) management and database administration on Oracle for 10g,11g,12c,19c.
Expert knowledge of Performance tuning
Expert knowledge RAC troubleshooting.
Expert knowledge of RMAN, Dataguard, OEM tool
Expert knowledge of backup and recovery.
Knowledge of the ITIL framework, vocabulary and best practices
Must have extensive experience as Production support Oracle Database Administrator – strong experience in large, high volume and high criticality environments
Must exhibit in-depth expertise in solving database contention, PT problems (dead locks, blocking etc)
Demonstrate extensive expertise in performance tuning including both query and server optimization
Knowledge of the ITIL framework, vocabulary and best practices

Oracle Certified Performance Tuning Expert – Oracle 12c or 11g
Oracle Certified Maximum Availability Expert – Oracle 12c or 11g
Experience of working in a highly regulated environment and the associated processes and tools
