Job Opening details:- Company Name :- Pfizer Position Name :- Research Scientist DPD Biopharamaceutics Company Location :- Chennai, Tamil Nadu Job Category :  General Category Full Job Description :- ROLE SUMMARY We are seeking a Scientist with expertise in the use of physiologically based pharmacokinetics (PBPK) modeling to facilitate in vitro and in vivo assessments of biopharmaceutics attributes and risks for new drug products. Scientist is a member of the Drug Product Design (DPD) department and engaged in biopharmaceutics modeling and simulation. The candidate must have demonstrated skills and proficiency in the use of at least one commercially available biopharmaceutics modeling software. The Scientist will be expected to be a member of a global biopharmaceutics team and work in close collaboration with formulation and material science colleagues to support biopharmaceutics risk management through use of relevant experimental and clinical data with PBPK modeling tools. Candidate must have skills and interest in quantifying and predicting thermodynamically driven processes as well as kinetics of transformations in physicochemical properties of simple and complex multi-component drug delivery systems. The selected candidate is expected to utilize principles biopharmaceutics encompassing physical, biophysical, biology, pharmacokinetics to assist in the design of drug products. The candidate must have capability to troubleshoot, understand, and solve practical, problems associated with in vitro and in vivo performance of drug products. The candidate can work independently and be a part of multi-disciplinary project teams. The candidate will report to a biopharmaceutics team leader in Groton, CT- USA. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Independently performs PBPK modeling to assess biopharmaceutics risks and identify risk mitigation strategies in the design of new drug products Evaluates the physicochemical properties of potential small molecule drug candidates to inform a drug product formulation strategy and developability risk assessment Design and develop stage appropriate biopharmaceutics models for preclinical and clinical evaluation of drug molecules Apply first principles understanding of thermodynamics and kinetic processes to dissolution and precipitation of drugs in biorelevant conditions and incorporate the understanding to PBPK modeling Provide technical input and engage in the draft of biopharmaceutics sections for regulatory submissions Work with DPD project teams to complete biopharmaceutics risk assessments and provide interpretation to enable identification of risk management strategies Work in cross-disciplinary teams and partner with subject matter experts in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacokinetics & Drug Metabolism, and Clinical Pharmacology departments and with colleagues in Pharm Sci. Partner with biopharmaceutics colleagues to advance novel research ideas and present significant findings via internal and external presentations or publications Propose novel ideas to expedite the use of PBPK models using sparse information and improve confidence for making decisions using output from these models BASIC QUALIFICATIONS A BS with 5+ years’ experience or a MS with 3+ years of experience in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physical Chemistry, Biophysical Chemistry, Biophysics or closely allied discipline Candidates with experience in allied disciplines may also apply with the following qualifications: MS with 7+ years, or BS with 9+ years of experience in industry Experience in working independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary global team environment PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in development of PBPK modeling with focus on biopharmaceutics applications Experience in designing and conducting hypothesis driven modeling and simulation Proficiency in interpretation of data and designing workplans to progress projects to key development decisions and milestones Integrating experimental data into predictive models to progress the understanding of dissolution and absorption behavior of drug molecules in complex materials and processes Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, teamwork skills, strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and activities while managing tight timelines PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Includes activities in mostly office settings. Candidate must be able to perform routine modeling and simulation activities. Ability to perform PBPK modeling for solid oral dosage forms and variant formulations and ability to perform complex data analysis.
